Earlywine Elementary Information

New to Earlywine? We put together this page to describe some of the programs you may come across here at Earlywine! Come across something not listed here that should be? Email the admin and ask that it be added!

AR

AR refers to our Accelerated Reader progam. Kids get points for reading books and taking a test (to ensure they comprehended it). They get prizes for earning levels of AR points. The AR program starts in 1st grade.

Back to School Night

Back to School Night typically occurs in the evening two days before school starts for K-6th and three days before school starts for our Pre-K pod. It is an open house style event, where you can meet the teachers, turn in school supplies, purchase school clothing, get your PTA Discount/Membership card, put money in the school lunch account, and more!

Camp Classen

Camp Classen is a week long outdoor school, which provides an amazing learning experience for our 6th grade students.

Class Parties

Every grade (K-6) has two parties a year: one in the fall and one in the spring. We ask that you contribute $5 for each child to help pay for both of these parties. Pre-K parties are done separately, in your Pre-K class.

Dolphin Diner

The Dolphin Diner refers to the seating areas located just inside the entrace to our building (both to the left and right immediately as you enter). Feel free to enjoy our diner style tables and chairs as you wait for your child, enjoy lunch with them, or use this area to meet about class parties or other volunteer opportunities.

Family Fun Night

Family Fun Night is an evening where students invite their entire family to come to the school for fun and games. All proceeds go DIRECTLY to Earlywine to be used to pay for programs and activities, such as Camp Classen.

Gym - Where is it?

The gym is located in a separate building behind the school (next to the playground). In that same building, you will also find the music and art rooms.

Media Center

When you hear someone refer to "The Media Center" this refers to the library, which is located in the center of our school, behind the office.

RBA

Responsible Behavior Award. Upper grades reward students for displaying responsible behavior. When students earn RBA, they are often allowed to bring a treat, game, or electronic device to enjoy during free time.

Reflections

National PTA Reflections welcomes all children in grades Kindergarten and above to explore and be involved in the arts. Annually, thousands of students will reflect on a common theme and create original works of art in the categories of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts.

The theme for the 2016-17 school year is, "What's Your Story?". One entry per student per category. Contact our Reflections chair if you'd like more information.

Sequoyah

The Sequoyah Book Awards program encourages the students of Oklahoma to read books of literary quality.

Every year Earlywine students are challenged to read all 15 Sequoyah books and they receive rewards along the way and those who read all 15 books get to attend a special party at the end of the year.

Specials

Specials refers to music, art, and PE. Each grade has a defined time of the day where they go to a specials class. They rotate through each class: 3 days in PE then 3 days in music then 3 days in art.

Super Kids Day

Super Kids Day usually occurs on the last day of school. The kids get to enjoy fun outdoor games, snow cones, and snacks on the playground to celebrate the end of the school year.

Thursday Folder

The Thursday Folder is the green folder that every child takes home every Thursday. Carefully look through this folder. You will find out important information about things going on at the school and in the community. An adult needs to sign the folder and return it to the school with the child on Friday.
